Yelllow Pedal

Ugly Ducklings, Yellow Polyester and Weeds. You can Pull 'em, pretend they are not there, or plug 'yer ears and hum really loud!
I will admit, I am not a fan of yellow. I own nothing yellow. When I see the color on clothing, shoes, socks and accessories I almost cringe.
I bought a wicked cool yellow dress with little pink flowers a few years back in Portland, and I have no idea where it is! I think I was high on vintage , and probably out of control.

Although, Mother nature and her yellow makes me scream with joy!

It's hard to ignore the strength in this little Midtown flower. Stepped on , spat upon by tree limbs and scooted  out of the way more 'favorable' front yard foliage.
Bringing food and beauty to this side walk garden.
I love these flowers. Spilling onto the sidewalk. Aching for attention, or taking a mid-day stretch?
I pick them by the  handfuls this time of year. Soon, the June sun will burn our delicate babies away. They grow abundantly in midtown , so go on a hunt soon to add some cheer into your home!
I think I almost cried when I saw this. No, actually I almost choked.
Look at the print! The Belt! The cuffs!
I have to give a two thumbs up for Polyester. Always, ALWAYS got the best print, cuts, and design.
To bad, it is so unrealistic to wear here in the Sacramento Valley.
Believe me, I try real hard. Polyester gives me the cold sweats, and that is just not sexy friends.

I am a die hard admirer of any fluffy, furry , layered  details around the neck area.
Maybe I am trying to harness the inner flower in me.

When the birds begin to sing, preserve me with pedals, and I will offer you everything.

Find this dress on display at the Sacramento SPCA Thrift.

Aw, hell naw. This is to cute.
I'll love you no matter how many legs you have my little yellow feathered friend.

I think I might spend my day tomorrow , admiring all the beautiful creatures at McKinley park.
A day of duck and turtle watching can always be a surprise of excitement!

Happy Easter friends!
Enjoy your day of rest, food and sunshine.

So nice to meet you. Can I take your picture?

YAY! I get to dress up tonight for work. No slummy cafe clothes for this girl.
Us Magpies' are hosting our space and delicious food for the Verge Center for the Arts, to help celebrate their one year anniversary in their new location!

Whoa, so leathery in my awesome Casual Corner vest from FreeStyle Clothing Exchange..
Did I ever mention that I used to work at a Casual Corner Outlet store. It was actually good for the paycheck because garments were so FUGLY, I would never buy anything. But, if this vest was there, I would buy one in teal too!
Yes , I am wearing my favorite necklace duo AGAIN!
Hells ya! Love these pups. Gifted from my gal RQ Bella.
I actually bought this dress new. Hanging on a clearance rack just waiting to be scooped up!
Blooper Reel! Birdie never wants me to go. Its hard to when she's so stinkin' cute!

So , I have some pretty big news. This is a little to big for me, but I am forcing myself to hurdle my frightened ass over the fear.
The fear of public speaking. Actually, the fear of people looking at me while I have nothing stimulating to say.
But, I am honored I was asked to do this, and this event is going to be way epic!

This coming Friday, the VCA is screening the film 'Bill Cunningham , New York' at the Crest Theatre.
Bill Cunningham is one of the founding god fathers of street style photography.
Bill has been biking around, and shooting  colors of vibrant people walking the streets of Manhattan for over 40 years.  I contribute to the Street Style Sacramento blog with my favorite Sacramento friend RQ Bella of the Citizen of Rosebud. Us two girls, Kari from Juniper James and Lorena Beightler of Sac Cycle Chic have been asked to follow up the film for a discussion panel.
Dude, what the hell am I going to say. I will probably forgot everything I know. But then, what do I know?
I just like to take pictures of people that have on beautiful jewelry, a funky hat, well tapered slacks or just a damn fine purse.
First hurdle to jump is to find what to wear! I got one accessory down. Oh yes, Its going to be so sweet.
But, for actually clothing , I have no idea. Of course I will stop in at C&C and check out their racks.
I hope I don't vomit on the stage.

You know you wanna go.
Crest Theatre, Sacramento.

I'll keep you posted kittens!

They call me Junk Lovin' Judy.

Here we are  at the Sacramento Antique Fair. Coffee and cash in hand. Totally ready for the hunt.

Memoirs of Buffalo Brewing Company , Sacramento California.

Uh-oh! Joe has spotted the Enterprise.  Darth Vader is Captain Kirks father , right?

Not to busy in the booth today. Might as well knit Fido a pair of booties.

I am so fascinated with Blacksmithing. The tools, metal, the men, attire, the heat , and the finished craft.

I was still half asleep when I took this picture, so I didn't approach her. I just secretly took a picture.
But man, was I drooling. Damn you leather , bones, and antlers! Why must I love you so much!

Aw, love little feat.
Dear Abby, I have this itch...

I love this clip from Portlandia. I would have say I relate to more of the episodes than not. Don't even get me started on Collin the chicken.
But this defiantly can reflect my love for junk. I mean , last year when I was tubing down the Sacramento River in Dunsmuir, I had to take a U-turn, hike up stream because I saw a rusty bed spring.
Which by the way , looks fantastic on my tea cup.
You can see it here.

Have a beautiful weekend friends.

Holy Cow

Selvedge magazine has  presented their pages with Toni Meneguzzo , and his recent exhibition.
So amazing.

"The Holy Cow, a peculiar icon of the Hindu religion, in these shots is depicted in the farthest possible way from the image handed down by the Western world. With their absent-minded expression , they return our glance, completely unaware of being the object of our admiration. Their meek eyes , shiny and a little lost , tell us they have already endured a lot, yet that they are still open to our oddities and impositions, but also, for this reason that they deserve that sacred aura that India has bestowed on them"

Hungry like the Wolf..Tiger or Birdie.

Hey guys! Its sooo beautiful outside. So Joe and I are off to have a brew and soak up some rays.
But, yesterday I think I soaked up too much while I was horseback riding and got myself all pink on the outside! OUCH!
Meeooow! I recently purchased this from Citizens of Rosebud boutique. Her stuff pretty much kicks ass, and I never leave empty handed. If you are interested in some shopping , email me. Lets RSVP to the next event, and skip~ to~my~ lou too your next vintage haven!
Trying to show you my awesome bat wing lace shirt .
Stories of Japanese disco and Yoko Ono are great to bring back from SXSW. But, Joe also brought me back some goodies from one of my favorite shops. Laced with Romance! Eeeeik!

Does this guy know me, or what. Love him.
I have been wanting a pair of slip on Mocs for days! But it seems impossible to find a used pair around town. I love wearing leather, but I prefer to not purchase 'new' leather products. No sense in demanding more production of unnecessary slaughter, when I can wait patiently and find a used pair.
But my patience was running thin, so I clicked 'confirm' on a etsy purchase from Vintage Shoe Love.
They were used, and all in one piece until Birdie girl got ahold of them the first 5 minutes I turned my back. She chewed off all the fringe and ties on the right shoe..ZOINKS!
Well, gotta make some lemonade now. So I cut the other fringe off , and taa-daa ..I should email Urban Outfitters about this new look :)

Happy Weekend ya'll!
Ta Ta kittens!

Love daze with Dyer Ranch

I met these gals last week when I was starting my day at Magpie. Deborah and Cate (left/center) were meeting their gal pal Becky (right) for an early lunch. I noticed that Becky was graciously accepting a dozen eggs from her friends. I could tell it was going to be a nice relaxing day for the girls , so I offered to put the eggs in the fridge to stay cool until they are ready to leave.
Me being a dreamer of farm girl, and a keeper of all animals I had to ask if they raised chickens..
They replied "Oh yes. We sure do! About 26 of them. Also, horses , goats , cats and dogs. We have a ranch in the Placerville area. "
In a matter of seconds, I had rock star eyes. I got weak in the knees and I think I jumped up and down a little bit.
Then, they too gifted me a dozen eggs . WOW! I was so excited. Really. Really, excited.
~The babes of Dyer Ranch~

I had to pass on the love. I shared my bounty with my friend Brooke.

Tee-hee. Sunday morning breakfast, and I am still giddy.

You MUST check out their website. Such beautiful pictures of the farm, and the animals enjoying their homestead.
I look forward to visiting Dyer Ranch very soon.

See ya 'round the bend, with a dozen eggs in hand !
