Holy Cow

Selvedge magazine has  presented their pages with Toni Meneguzzo , and his recent exhibition.
So amazing.

"The Holy Cow, a peculiar icon of the Hindu religion, in these shots is depicted in the farthest possible way from the image handed down by the Western world. With their absent-minded expression , they return our glance, completely unaware of being the object of our admiration. Their meek eyes , shiny and a little lost , tell us they have already endured a lot, yet that they are still open to our oddities and impositions, but also, for this reason that they deserve that sacred aura that India has bestowed on them"

wait a minute, did i just imagine reading a different post this morning? about chickens? i didn't a chance to comment about how yet again we seem to share a brain. i got involved in animal rights (and protesting, etc) in high school. it started with an interest in putting an end to cosmetic testing, but somewhere along the line i read "diet for a new america" and went veggie.

i love these cow pics. i dream of having a cow as a pet, just so it can chill and chew on grass and i can make it flower necklaces to wear. but i am silly that way :)

hey you! you did read that . that wasn't a food frenzy nightmare. The pictures I took from the Farm Sanctuary were incorrect. (brought to my attention by some random blogger) No big, fixing it with the right pix .
I freaking love cows too! That same trip, I totally chilled with a calf named Casey for a long while. He tried to cuddle on my lap like he was a dog, and every second he got, he would try to suckle on my arm.
btw, I want you to make me another awesome necklace! I was at C&C on Sunday with RQ and checked out your new digs..lookin' good sister!
..and I love your beauty and brains...

Cows are so very Holy. Even though we don't worship them and adorn them (though I'm with ya Nicole, maybe we should! What fun it would be to have your own cow to mow the lawn and dress up in flowers in the middle of Sacramento) being in the presence of one is pretty awe-inspiring. I milked on last year and am hoping to do so again this spring and it's definitely a leap of faith and can be a pretty connecting, spiritual experience.
