hoochie coochie (wo)man

Todays look was inspired from a four sided record I was listening to today. Biting down on the boring adult tasks such as washing your dishes, laundry and hair, there is no question that I must have music to get my thru this. So, I laid the needle down on a Allman Brothers record, and they got me thru pain. I love what I was wearing today. I feel like I can hop on the tour bus of Lynyrd Syknyrd, The Allman Brothers, or  Hank Williams Jr. and blend in just fine!

look for the Union Label

I recently found a vintage deadstock Nicole Miller dress.  I first saw the crumpled ball in a pile of clothes at a local thrift store. I pulled it up, and before I could release it from its pretzel pose, I could tell by the fabric and pattern that this was going to be special. I brought it home, steamed it out and freaked out! It does has an 80's vibe, but the unique cut stands beyond the rest. I wanted to unleash it once my birthday shoes arrived, so there was a few days of waiting and panting.

Once I slipped this over my head, I noticed that the original I.Magnin tags were still attached!
OMG! I love collecting vintage clothing tags and labels. I didn't cut it off because I wanted to show my crimson sisters how cool it was.  The tags are still secretly pinned under the right cuff , and I won't clip it until I carefully wash the dress.

Vintage Nicole Miller tag. Union label  poking out from underneath.
Size 12 tags is about size 8 for a modern day lady.
I feel like we just left the 90's. No siri-bobski. Beverly Hills , 90210, and this dress are now considered Vintage!
I only dream of who #642436 was. I bet she was a classy lady with a questionable hair do.

lightning strike

Nicole of Flaming Hag Folkwear has created another master piece of art for me. I am so in love with the splattered gold paint on the black leather spears.
I am now greedy and want one in silver, and mixed tones!
Cluster Beaded necklace was a Porkchop Rules find and the gold name necklace
I got for my 30th Birthday . I am soooo Sex and the City!

Life is good at the shop. The sales for my vintage clothing and finds is slowly increasing every month.
I am finding a good shopping pattern for the right days and time. Also, hitting up all of my secret spots regularly has helped me budget more cautiously.

My birthday is coming up . This means it is a day that gives me an excuse to buy yummy presents for myself with out having to rationalize for them. My list is very long. But I have shaved it down to my TOP 3!

1. Zana Bayne 2 wing leather harness. I want to wear this every day to work with the tallest shoes possible. I feel it will help me feel like I am less human and more dragon. Is that true? yes, yes it will be.
PS. I have been following her blog for quite some time. Check out Garbage Dress.

2. Shoes. Dur. I have about 4 now that I am working off of. I have to cut it down to two. Which won't be hard..But which ones??

3. About 32 different choices of my favorite Alexander McQueen

4. (Scratch #3. That is pure idiot fantasy)

5. I would really like for my mom, and my husbands mom to learn how to be independent , strong women. To open up shut doors with in themselves and see the beauty and capability that they truly have.

Hope you are all having a joyous beginning to the holiday season! I know I am :)

Take care
xo

It's bit of a Brit invasion

I can't stop with this music! I have time warped myself back into the mid/late 1960's from over seas, and I am groovin' on it big time. Like I have said before, what I am listening to at the moment usually is my inspiration for what I slip on each day. It might be over 100 evil degrees here in the Sacramento Valley, but I will still rock out with my Polyester maxi dress. Oh ya baby. Scored this story book dress at the Human Society in Mt. Shasta.

1940s turquoise ring from the Sacramento Antique Fair.
Necklace made by The Queen. AKA Nicole from FHF.
Mary Janes from FHF. I already got down with some dancing in these puppies!
FHF Kaftan dress. I wish I had better pictures to show you. But I was all up on my period that day and my eyes were full of bags..ack!

Some groovy tunes..

The Small Faces

The Troggs

Cream
The Yardbirds

The Stones

Have fun! xox
