Where does the wind blow.

Since 1941, homeowners were only able to grow food in their back yard. For 3 years, a dedicated grassroots group in Sacramento worked very hard to permit front yard gardens . In 2007, city council approved 8-1 that Sacramento would now  be able to grow more than just low growing ground cover.  30% of it can now be veggies and fruit!  Now, strolling thru midtown you can catch mini plots from the size of a shoe box, to this beautiful sleeping creature.
Not much but sleepers here, but I am anxious to watch this garden birth itself next Spring.

Between a one way street , and a busy sidewalk is home to Summer Squash. Now a cover crop of leaves and next seasons wishes.

Sleeping seedlings.

Break on thru the other side!

I always have the urge to lounge on a mound of soil bags. Going to nurseries I get that 'playground urge' .  I can see me now. Laying on my back,   reading a book in the sun, while inhaling the richness of earth in bags beneath me.

Nestled next to some Peppers, you can find some pretty flowers to make your winter days that much sunnier.

Blueberries! Yes please.
I'm just here to look good.
This is going to be so beautiful. I can't wait!
I will revisit very soon to see how everyone is coming along. Hopefully this time , I can meet the gardener and cry of joy in her/his arms .

Hey man! What can I plant around these parts of town!?

Exquisite Creatures

Pam of 2ETN. A instant friend, a forever long sister and one of the most caring , brilliant , beautiful woman I have ever met. We met at the Launch party in Sacramento. I swooned over her Raquel Allegra dress , and her insanely beautiful hand crafted jewelry. I purchased a necklace from her and it quickly became my favorite. Not to mention a favorite of any person I bumped into. I have never received so many compliments on a necklace before, until I started wearing my latest 2ETN everyday for the past 2 weeks.

For my birthday she gifted me the most breath taking piece of her heart . Some one pinch me please. I was stunned. I opened in front of my friend Bella, and I couldn't breathe. I think I was in shock for a day or so after that. It has been obsessively wrapped around my neck ever since.

RQ Bella since has interviewed Pam for the Midtown Monthly. Pam expresses her inspirations , living and designing in  Sacramento, and her commitment to the Adopt-a-Buffalo campaign.

~Finished reading it? Told you , she is amazing!

"We’re inspired by the pre-photography art of miniatures, especially Mourning and Memory jewelry from the late 1800s."

"Our inspirations are fairly consistent: an awe of Nature, a love of history, an appreciation for slow processes, and craftsmanship."

"The buffalo was the primary source of survival, both physical and spiritual. The buffalo provided food, clothing, shelter, a purpose to their existence and a sacred object of reverence." - Powers 1986

St. John, save my skin!

Today I walked into the COOP  with the intention on buying some super charged facial moisturizer.
I speed walk into the Wellness department, and I am greeted by two of my favorite COOP friends.
'Bonnie! Ang! Help this woman in distress. My face is a freaking corn flake and I can't keep my skin hydrated! What moisturizer should I buy?' Bon asks me If  have tried a couple remedies around the house, and I have.
Nothing, nada , zip, zilch have worked.
Bonnie also suggests that I apply St. Johns Wort Oil. According to Susun Weed, it is an excellent skin moisturizer and can be used for a natural sunscreen.

"Contrary to popular belief, St. John's wort does not cause sun sensitivity - it prevents it. It even prevents burn from radiation therapy."

I harvested 3 bags full along the river two summers ago. I have had it steeping in Almond and Olive Oil ever since tonight.

Filtering out the oil from herb.
WOW! 2 summers of steeping brought this beautiful deep red oil.
 Ooo la la.
Taadaa!
Now, she will hang out and rest for a couple of days.
